The countdown is on! The Rochester Security Summit is 26 days away, and this is the first edition of Rochester Security Summit Thursday. Every Thursday until the event, we’d like to give you a bit of what conference attendees will experience. First, let’s talk about the theme of this year’s event.
The theme of this year’s event? The Right to Privacy: Balancing Privacy and Security. Keynote speakers include cybersecurity experts from various verticals who will all touch on the latest trends in security and how organizations balance privacy of data and security of data.
Our own Jonathan Borgesen, Senior Account Manager, will speak at this year’s conference. Here are some highlights you can expect from his talk, “The Onslaught of Cyber Securitty Threats and What that Means to You.”
- Threats have not only increased over the years (in 2014, 43 percent of companies experienced a data breach), but they’ve become more dangerous. A recent IBM study found the average consolidated total cost of a data breach is $3.8 million, representing a 23 percent increase since 2013.
- Successful attacks don’t affect just companies or the bottom line. It’s important to remember that attacks directly affect employees and families.
- To truly be prepared to defend against cyber attacks, companies must get inside the mind of the hacker. What are they after? What is their end goal? Questions like these can help create the proper mindset for defending attacks.
